I've been preaching the combination of experience and education for some time. These aspects of the job should not work in opposition to one another, yet bring forth a more powerful fire service.

Below are a few pictures from training the other day with a Petrogen torch. Also below is a short video on initial operations including: determining tip size, gasoline pressure, O2 pressure, and lighting procedures.

This little scenario put some more tools in the guy's hands. We jammed a metal ring around a dummy's arm. The goal was to cut the ring off without cutting the coat or dummy.

We were interested to see how warm the washers got when cutting. The picture shows 143 degrees, but at one point it was up to 170. Remember to cool the patient in these scenarios.

Crews from Citizens Hose Co and Independent Hose Co began the time consuming task of cutting open the top of the outer pipe with reciprocating saws.

Instead of a ball they used an egg. This drill is all about knowing your airbags, cribbing, wedges, and being able to control the airbags.

This air kit is set-up to work off our Ajax chisel regulator and hose.  All we did was get the right size connections for the Ajax hose.  These tools run at 90 PSI and the box needs labeled for those 2 am calls.
