We finished up the classroom portion of the BGSU State Fire School Heavy Rescue class today and the training ground is set for tomorrow. Below is a picture of the bottom of a fuel tanker trailer we had an opportunity to crawl around and under. Notice the ring at the bottom of the bolts. This is a breakaway for if the valve is hit, for example, in an under-ride scenario. As long as the bolts are still in place the valve will prevent a big spill from the tank. Potentially the only fuel to hit the ground will be from the pipe.
