We did some training yesterday with cutting tools. Really just some basics you can do in the firehouse with junk in the cabinets.
First, I found a rusted bolt, nut, and two washers on it. The bolt simulated a finger. The guys cut the washers off with a dremel tool quickly. We were interested to see how warm the washers got when cutting. The picture shows 143 degrees, but at one point it was up to 170. Remember to cool the patient in these scenarios. Also, in the picture below you can see the guys protecting the simulated finger with a butter knife. More cutting to come in another post.
